(Agri-Pulse) Plant science center starts new effort to replace nitrogen fertilizers with microbes

The Subterranean Influences on Nitrogen and Carbon (SINC) Center is a new center of excellence dedicated to developing technology that will reduce the amount of chemical nitrogen fertilizer used in agriculture without sacrificing crop yield.

While soil microbes that enhance nitrogen fixation are already a major focus of multiple companies, Rebecca Bart, PhD, Associate Member, spoke to Agri-Pulse about the unique role that the SINC Center can play by conducting foundational science that can help determine what works and doesn’t.
