Danforth Center Named a Top Workplace for a Sixth Year in a Row

The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center is proud to be named a 2026 Top Workplace by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. This recognition marks six consecutive years of this honor.

Top Workplace designations are determined entirely by employee feedback. Each year, the St. Louis Post-Dispatch surveys staff at organizations across the region, and the results speak for themselves. People at the Danforth Center love where they work.

Who We Are

Since 1998, the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center has brought together the best and brightest plant scientists from around the world to answer humanity's most profound challenges. Today the Danforth Center is the largest organization of its kind, an independent 501(c)3 nonprofit with a mission to improve the human condition through plant science.

That mission isn't just a statement on a wall: it's what draws people here, and it's what keeps them. Our community includes more than 400 scientists and support staff working in teams focused on delivering sustainable food security. We believe in the power of science to lift families, communities, and nations from poverty and empower people everywhere to enjoy better health and a higher quality of life.

The people who work here know that plant science has the power to change the world. Paired with a work culture where people feel supported and connected, that greater purpose is a big part of why so many are proud to be a part of our team here at the Danforth Center. Here's what some of our community members had to say in this year's survey:

What stands out in survey after survey is that our community members feel connected to our mission and to each other. Whether someone is a scientist, a facilities team member, an educator, or an administrator, the sense of shared purpose runs through every corner of this organization. Every person, no matter their role, is contributing to the same goal.

We are grateful to every member of our community for making the Danforth Center the place it is. This recognition belongs to all of us!
