(STL Magazine) As the Jackie Joyner-Kersee Foundation Opens an Innovation Center, St. Louis Aims to Grow Its Bioscience Talent

St. Louis Magazine

St. Louis Magazine explores how the St. Louis bioscience ecosystem is opening doors for people who didn't take a traditional path into the field — from new partnerships like the JJK FAN Innovation Center in East St. Louis to programs like the Danforth Center's Pivot to Plants fellowship. Former fellow Tess Rogers, who spent nearly a decade as a naturalist before joining the program, is now a biologist at Bayer, work she credits entirely to the fellowship. Danforth Center President Giles Oldroyd reflects on the region's momentum: "St. Louis has a fantastic offer right now. We've got a thriving ecosystem already, but I think we can grow it a lot."
