(Genome Insider) A Spectrum of Sorghum
Genome Insider- Department of Energy Joint Genome Institute
A new episode of the U.S. Department of Energy's Genome Insider podcast features Dr. Nadia Shakoor of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center, who led the effort to grow and study 2,000 different sorghum varieties from around the world. Her team used drones to fly over the Center's research fields and track how each variety handled stress like drought. Combined with genetic data from partners at HudsonAlpha, the project produced the most comprehensive sorghum pangenome ever built. The resource is now freely available to researchers worldwide working to breed hardier crops.
