Tentative schedule: Thursday 9:30 am-8:15 pm, Friday 9:30 am-3:15 pm

The Danforth Center Scientific retreat will take place over two days and one night at the YMCA Trout Lodge in Potosi, MO. Accommodations and meals are provided by the Danforth Center. The retreat will focus on scientific presentations and ethics development and will provide an array of social opportunities for the staff.  Interns will be put into cabins with 6 interns per cabin. 

Please pack your own shampoo, conditioner, and hair dryer as they are not provided.

YMCA Trout Lodge is located in Potosi, MO and is 75 miles (1-1/2 hours) from from St. Louis. Carpooling to the retreat is recommended.  SEE BELOW ABOUT GPS, GOOGLE MAPS, AND MAPQUEST

Follow your GPS directions only to Potosi* (using 21 South to 8 West)
continue on Hwy 8W through the town of Potosi for 10 more miles.
Turn right onto Highway AA.
The entrance to Trout Lodge is almost 3 miles down on the right.
Lost? Call the Trout Lodge front desk at 573-438-2154.

 *NOTE: use GPS only to get you to Potosi.  Depending on the gps device, you will be directed to a house further down Highway AA or the Boy Scout Camp at the south end of our lake. 

OR following these directions: 
I-270 to Tesson Ferry Road (Hwy 21)
Hwy 21 South for 18 miles
Left onto Hillsboro Rd/MO route B for 4 miles                            
Right onto Hwy 21 (south) for 29.3 miles
Right onto Hwy 8 (west) and go 10.7  miles to State Hwy AA
At Hwy AA, turn right and go 2 miles to arrive at YMCA Trout Lodge and Camp Lakewood

Intern Carpooling: Drivers needed! Check with each other to arrange carpooling.  Those that drive other people to the retreat can be reimbursed for mileage to cover gas/wear and tear.

You can also check with your lab/mentor for a ride.

Cell phone service: There is an AT&T tower in the area and this is the only cell phone service provider that works.  Please give the front desk number (573) 438-2154 to those that might need to reach you.  The front desk will deliver messages to our group.

Fun things to do: Free time is incorporated into the schedule and there are numerous activities (both free and paid) offered at Trout Lodge which features a lake (boating and fishing, no swimming), mud cave, tennis courts, paintball course, volleyball, mini-golf course, and a ranch on the property.

Karaoke:  The golden microphone trophy is up for grabs again! The Danforth “Idol” karaoke competition will take place during social time starting at 8:30 pm on Thursday.  For those labs/groups interested in preparing songs ahead of time, you can view the song list.
