Welcome to the Donald Danforth Plant
Science Center's Summer Internship Program!
The Danforth Center provides a welcoming atmosphere in a
small, friendly institution and exposes students to a
rich research environment through the wide range of
expertise.
We have created a program that gives students experience
with all aspects of modern scientific research, from
design to experimentation to reporting. At the same
time, we provide insight into the personal qualities of
a good researcher, the steps to take on the road to
becoming a scientist, and the broader implications of
scientific discovery. In order to achieve these goals,
students participate in hands-on research in the lab as
well as attending weekly seminars.
Students from universities across the nation are paired
with Danforth scientists and participate in a diverse
set of research areas including:
- cell biology
- molecular biology
- structural biology
- biochemistry
- physiology
- developmental biology
- genetics
- nematology
- plant pathology
