On May 19, 2014, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon and St. Louis County Executive Charlie Dooley joined Danforth Center leadership, staff, volunteers and guests to celebrate the groundbreaking of a three-story addition to the Center’s existing research building.

Danforth Fellowships in plant sciences announced
The Donald Danforth Plant Science Center and Washington University in St. Louis have teamed up to enhance the St. Louis regional effort in plant sciences by creating a new four-year Danforth Fellowship program specifically for students in any Ph.D. program with a strong interest in plant sciences.

Ask A Plant Scientist: Dmitri Nusinow, PH.D.
Dmitri Nusinow, Ph.D. joined the Danforth Center in 2012 as an Assistant Member and Principal Investigator. His research is focused on understanding how the circadian clock is integrated with environmental signals to control growth, physiology and development. This knowledge can be used to improve the productivity of crops.

Confocal Microscopy Short Course
Howard Berg, Director of the Center’s Integrated Microscopy Facility, is instructing a short course January 7-10th that will provide a solid background on the use of light microscopy, especially confocal microscopy, as a tool to study cell and molecular biology.
