Danforth Center Hosts Famed Physicist and Author SEEDS of CHANGE to feature Amory B. Lovins, a leading authority on sustainable energy
ST. LOUIS, MO, September 15, 2014 – Amory B. Lovins, Cofounder, Chief Scientist and Chairman Emeritus of the Rocky Mountain Institute, will be the featured speaker at the annual SEEDS of CHANGE event. Hosted by members of the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center’s Leadership Council, the event on Tuesday, September 16, 2014 will begin with a reception at 7:30 a.m. and continue with Lovins’ presentation, REINVENTING FIRE: Bold Business Solutions for the New Energy Era, at 8:00 a.m. at the Danforth Plant Science Center, 975 N. Warson Road.
Physicist Amory B. Lovins is widely considered among the world’s leading authorities on energy—especially its efficient use and sustainable supply—and a fertile innovator in integrative design and in superefficient buildings, factories, and vehicles. An ex-Oxford don, honorary architect, Swedish engineering academician, Lovins has written 500 papers and 31 books, taught at 10 universities, and has been active at the nexus of energy, resources, economy, environment, development, and security in more than 50 countries for over 40 years.
As a National Petroleum Council member, he advises the Chief of Naval Operations. He received the “Alternative Nobel,” Blue Planet, Volvo, Zayed, Onassis, Nissan, Shingo, and Mitchell Prizes, MacArthur and Ashoka Fellowships, 12 honorary doctorates, and the Heinz, Lindbergh, National Design, and World Technology Awards. Time Magazine named him one of the world’s 100 most influential people; Foreign Policy, one of 100 top global thinkers.
