Here is a list of tech events this week aimed at educating and informing local small-business owners, entrepreneurs and those interested in the St. Louis startup scene.
Monday, Sept. 9
Ag Innovation Showcase Opening Reception: 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the St. Louis Art Museum. Join innovators and investors in the ag-science industry at the opening reception of the Ag Innovation Showcase. The reception kicks off the two day event that starts on Tuesday.
Start: 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Three Kings Public House in University City. Check out Start30’s second meeting, a happy hour for entrepreneurs to share strategy and talk best practices. The event is free and registration is preferred.
STL Ruby Meetup: 6 p.m. at The Able Few. This regular meetup group will discuss Scala and Ruby. Pat Berryhill and Mike Tomko will present on Ruby.map and ownign Spotify with algorithms respecitively. This event is free and registration is preferred.
Tuesday, Sept. 10
Ag Innovation Showcase: 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center. The Ag Innovation Showcase attracts some of the biggest names technology and bioscience and will foster dialogue and deal-flow between industry leaders, emerging innovators and investors. Tuesday’s agenda includes a keynote presentation by Dr. Robert Fraley, CTO and executive vice president of Monsanto; presentation by ag startups; and two panels: one on the promise and pitfalls of data and analytics in the ag industry, and another on biosolutions in agriculture.
Olin Cup/Youthbridge Social Enterprise and Innovation Competition Kickoff: 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.at Washington University’s Whitaker Hall. Washington University will kickoff its two business plan competitions with a networking event. This event is free but registration is required.
