RNAs

Recent advances in molecular biology have led to the discovery and harnessing of double stranded RNA as a highly specific inhibitor (RNAi) of translation. It has been shown in C. elegans, plants, and many other organisms that double stranded RNA can inhibit expression of targets in a gene-specific manner. Currently, research is being conducted in my lab on whether RNAi expression in plants can also inhibit gene expression in obligate plant-parasitic nematodes.
