Thomas Smith's Laboratory

My laboratory combines biochemistry and structural biology to elucidate a number of biological problems.

We are currently working on the structures (cryo-EM and crystallographic) of a number of viruses, ABC transporters, carbohydrate recognition complexes, enzymes, and we are using biochemical methods to protect crops with antifungal proteins and enhance the micronutrient content in foods.

1) Anti-fungal proteins

2) Virus structure/function

3) Glutamate Dehydrogenase and Insulin Regulation

4) ABC Transporters
