Danforth Center's BRDG Park
Wins East West Gateway's 2008 Outstanding Local Government Achievement Award
The Donald Danforth Plant
Science Center's Bio-Research and Development
Growth Park (BRDG Park) received East-West
Gateway's 2008 Outstanding Local Government
Achievement Award for its involvement in the
Bio-Research and Development Growth Park (BRDG
Park). The Danforth Center along with the St.
Louis County Economic Council, City of Creve
Coeur and St. Louis Community College were
recognized for their contributions to the
successful launch of BRDG Park. East-West
Gateway Council of Governments recognized
honorees at its 43rd Annual Meeting.
The award honors the partnership effort on
behalf of the expansion of the Danforth Center's
40-acre site, which includes a state-of-the-art
laboratory and office park, called BRDG Park.
The Park will house wet laboratory and office
space specifically designed to support the needs
of emerging life science companies. The NIDUS
Center and additional space for Monsanto also
will locate in the new building. The
110,000-square-foot lab and office facility is
scheduled for completion fall 2009.
One of the most unique features at BRDG Park
will be the classroom and laboratory space
designed for the on-site technical workforce
training program of St. Louis Community College.
As the largest community college in Missouri and
one of the largest two-year colleges in the
nation, St. Louis Community College's program
for bio-technician training has been recognized
for excellence by the Missouri Biotechnology
Industry Organization (MOBIO).
"BRDG Park represents visible and dramatic
progress toward the Danforth Center's goal of
enhancing our region as a world center for plant
and life sciences," said Danforth Center's Chief
Operating Officer and President of BRDG Park Sam
Fiorello. "We greatly appreciate the tremendous
support and efforts we received from the public
sector."
