In Chad, food crop production is based mainly on the culture of cereals, oil, horticulture and root crops. Faced with changing demographic pressures, these crops tend to be kept with no improvement of agricultural techniques. Over recent years, cultivation of cassava is increasing in the country. However, it is beset by many constraints:
    - decline due to animal pressure (clash between farmers and animal breeders)
    - lack of equipment for agriculture
    - traditional agriculture techniques
    - deficiency of dissemination of results obtained by research
    - insufficiency of conservation and transformation
    - enclave of zones of production
    - absence of farmers organizations
The purpose of this study is to present the system of food crop production in order to define the constraints and the benefits of cassava cultivation and suggest plans for development.
