The facility is set up to provide convenience in digital image handling. Digital images will be ported out of the light or electron microscope into the institute’s high bandwidth network, and stored on a central terabyte archiving computer that provides access to the images from any lab in the institute. The facility will provide powerful image processing software. We will be a designated North American Advanced Imaging Center institute using the powerful Bitplane image processing software, which will run on a parallel array computer in the facility computer lab.
