The Global Cassava Partnership for the 21st Century (GCP21) is an international alliance of research institutions dedicated to increase research and funding on cassava, and dedicated to transfer modern technologies to permit crop improvement breakthroughs in the coming years.

GCP21 Facts
The slide show presented below is a compilation of data from the FAOStat database (2010), presenting the evolution over time of the production and productivity of the major food crops in Africa as well as the evolution over time of the cassava production and productivity in the world. The slide show has been updated in 2010 with data from 1970 to 2008.

Steering Committee

GCP21 is an informal organization, without permanent funding and therefore without permanent administration. GCP21 is composed of a steering committee (see composition below), and it is keeps an updated portfolio of topics and methodologies for research and development purposes (see GCP21 Statement - 2010). The major activities of GCP21 is to organize two types of regular meetings: Strategic meetings of the GCP21 to discuss and update the content of the Portfolio (see Strategic meeting Bellagio-I , and see Strategic meeting Bellagio-II), and scientific GCP21 Conferences (see GCP21-I, Ghent 2008 and GCP21-II, Kampala 2012)
