Dr. Dilip Shah is
a Principal Investigator at the Donald Danforth Plant
Science Center. The research in his lab is focused on
understanding the molecular mechanisms underlying plants’
defense against pathogens. His research team is currently
investigating the mode of action of antifungal defensins and
their use in development of mycotoxin-free disease resistant
crops. Prior to joining the Danforth Center in 2001, he was
a Science Fellow at Monsanto Company. During his tenure at
Monsanto Company, he played a major role in the development
of Roundup Ready crops, led the company’s R&D effort on the
development of fungal disease resistant crops and was
instrumental in setting up the company’s R&D center for
agricultural research in India. He has served on the NSF and
NIH grant review panels and has regularly reviewed
manuscripts for various journals. He has published numerous
articles in peer-reviewed journals and has been a
co-inventor on several patents in agricultural
biotechnology. He organized the Danforth Center’s Fall
Symposium “New Frontiers in Plant Biology” in 2006. |
