Ralph Quatrano |
Ralph S. Quatrano
received his B.A. from Colgate University (1962) and Ph.D.
in Biology from Yale University (1968). He held
Professorships and founded the Center for Gene Research at
Oregon State University (1968-86) and was Research Manager
in Molecular Biology at Dupont (1986-89). He was the first
John N. Couch Professor of Biology at the University of
North Carolina at Chapel Hill (1989) and also served as
Chairman (1992-1997).
He was appointed a Reviewing Editor for Science (1991-98)
and Editor-In-Chief of Plant Cell (1998-2003). He has been
on the Boards of plant science based companies and
institutes. He has received teaching awards and has served
as advisor for more than 20 graduate students and 40
postdoctoral fellows.
Since 1998, he has been the Spencer T. Olin Professor and
Chairman of the Department of Biology at Washington
University in St. Louis and recently served as Director of
the Division of Biology and Biomedical Sciences (2005-2007).
His research interests center on the cellular and molecular
mechanisms controlling cell polarity and the control of gene
expression during abiotic stress. He has authored over 154
research articles and routinely presents his findings at
major meetings, Universities and research institutes. |
